Dr Claire Ashton-James named Associate Professor.

Dec 9, 2020

We rejoice in the news that Dr Claire Ashton-James, known to many of us, was announced today by the University of Sydney as Associate Professor!
Claire is a social psychologist in the Pain Management Research Institute, and one of the leaders of PMRI’s Pain Education Unit in particular in the delivery of the Masters program.

Claire is a Social Psychologist with expertise in the interpersonal realm of healthcare, and in particular, pain management. Her research spans the role of emotions and trust in patient-clinician interactions, social aspects of pain and pain management, and the development of social interventions to support patients who are tapering off opioid medications for chronic pain.

You may recall she ran and recorded those ‘Distress and Anxiety’ online video sessions back in June/July and the Opioid Tapering Symposium late last year.

Please join us in congratulating Claire and wishing her well in her blossoming career!
