Chair of the Optogenetics Australia Society, Handling Editor Journal of Neurochemistry

After earning her PhD (Medicine) at the University of Sydney, Karin was awarded a European Marie Curie Fellowship to undertake postdoctoral training in Paris at Institut de Biologie de l’École Normale Supérieure where she gained an in depth understanding of neuronal signalling and was awarded a further two competative fellowships before returning to Australia to train under Professor Chris Vaughan at the Pain Management Research Institute. In 2017 she started her own laboratory which uses modern neuroscience tools to understand the neural circuits that drive our responses to pain and ultimately to find new strategies to treat chronic pain.
