If you’ve ever had a migraine you know they are more than a bad headache. Some people throw up, some get blurred vision and struggle to speak properly and some are bedridden for days.

Yet despite the massive impact migraines have on our health and our economy, they’re underdiagnosed, undertreated and often misunderstood.

Finding the right treatment can be a long and frustrating journey and some people never find a way to manage the pain.

In this edition of The ABC Conversation Hour (Melbourne) on 18th September we look at what migraines actually are and the treatment options in managing them.

Bronwen O’Shea conducts the interview including neurologist Dr Emma Foster (Monash Uni), several patients, Painaustralia’s CEO Giulia Jones and Gabriella Kelly-Davies, author of “Breaking Through the Pain Barrier”, a biography of Michael Cousins, who is globally recognised as a pioneer in pain management research.
